 BLOG

We have continued to develop calculations to allow engineers to calculate load bearing member capacity under fire conditions for light gauge steel members. Now we have added tools to calculate thermal induced bowing based on hot and cold flange temperatures.
On wednesday the 6th December 2023 we had the opportunity to raise and discuss our proposals for calculated passive fire capacity with the BCSA's Cold Formed Steel group and had a very positive response.
The BCSA have produced their 3rd Draft of the NLGS which is intended to be comparable to the NSSS for Hot Rolled Steel in terms of it will be specified as part of contracts in much teh same way as the NSSS is now. To this end it's worth taking the time to read and comment before it comes out and forced upon you.
Following on from the scan and production of 3D model or 'BIM' - Building Information Model showing the proposed structure in the space scanned we have a very short video of what this looks like in Augmented Reality.

Following on from the scan we now have a 3D model or 'BIM' - Building Information Model shpwing the proposed structure in the space scanned.

Following on from the intial post the scan of the site has now been completed and is being tidied up by the wizz kids at PQS Tech to make it easier for the detailers to model the LGS structure more easily.

Start of something exciting....... This is going to be the 1st in a series of posts on a project we have been involved with since 2020

We are attending site in Knaresborough on Friday to assist with a LIDAR scan of a compact site with restricted access between existing buildings.

Pleased to be able to share video of latest lecture Steve was invited to give at City University, London on Engineering of Light Gauge Steel
