As the screen grab of the email from 13th October, we are pleased to be able to share that one of our many clients - 12th in 16 years - has received their NHBC / SCI Stage 1 certificate for their Light Gauge Steel Residential Construction Framing system

This one is for FIFTEEN stories.

It's not an NHBC first, but is certainly a 1st for the practice.

Decades ago we produced, in association with Vertex and Howick a case study demonstratg that we could design upto 11 stories as a marketing tool to demonstrate what the machines and software could do between us. This was, and still is, a powerful tool.

Moving upto 15 stories, the limit in the UK before progressive collapse requirements change, is useful and despite Birkbeck Structures have a 'hybrid' system that utilises their hot rolled steel fabrication business, they still wanted the option to use only light gauge steel.
Want to know more? Would you like your own NHBC / SCI Technical manual? We have two others submitted to SCI for approval by SCI on behalf of NHBC today, so have a wealth of experience in this field.

We are also developing our 'hot state checks' even further and are hoping to have a working example using tested data from a major board manufacturer within a few weeks. This development will allow the designer to not only state wether or not the member scan carry the applied load under fire conditions, but also how long the 'system' will withstand the fire (a fire rating in lay language).

User's will select from a combination of 'fire boards' to select the time required and apply the design loads to their member selecting from the 30+ manufacturers in our datalists.

As this method gains traction and acceptance our sister company www.mess.uk.com will be adding to their offerings allowing users who purchase teh calculation to run their own hot state checks withithout resorting to expensive and flawed testing.
